New Tesla Cybertruck Explained - Cybertruck Recall

How much is a cybertruck ?

Looking for the Tesla Cybertruck price? The Tesla truck starts at $82,235, offering great value with an affordable Tesla truck price.

Overview

I like the look of the New Tesla Cybertruck. The flat stainless steel sheet panels do remind me of low-polygon modeling, and I have to admit, I’m not sure I like that about it. But I do like the idea of a Tesla pickup truck, and I think that it will be an interesting and controversial addition to the Tesla lineup. What do you think?

The Tesla Cybertruck is an electric pickup with an aircraft-style steer-by-wire system and a claimed towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. It is available with either a 600-hp dual-motor AWD or a “Beast” version that produces 834 hp from three electric motors. The Beast is the fastest pickup we’ve ever tested. Although it looks like it came from another planet, the Cybertruck drives well and it is capable and reasonably priced. #5 in Best Electric Pickup Trucks

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

I’d love to get my hands on a Cybertruck Author’s Edition Beast. With three motors, it produces 834 horsepower. It also has adaptive air suspension that can raise or lower the truck. It is an all-wheel drive with 17 inches of ground clearance, and it’s a great off-road vehicle too with a 35-degree approach angle and 28-degree departure angle. The Cybertruck is more nimble than I thought. With the rear-wheel steering and adaptive steer-by-wire system, driving it in traffic feels so much easier compared to a regular pickup truck.

0–60-MPH Times

There’s no question that Tesla’s Cybertruck is a beast, but its dual-motor and tri-motor versions are something else entirely. The dual-motor truck has a top speed of 113 mph and took 3.9 seconds to reach 60 mph. It also has a range of 500 miles and 600 horsepower. However, it’s the top-of-the-line tri-motor version, which has a range of 300 miles, a top speed of 131 mph, and a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds, that truly sets it apart.

Towing and Payload Capacity

How much towing capacity does the Cybertruck have, and which version should you pick? The single-motor model has a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds, while the dual- and tri-motor versions can tow 11,000 pounds.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

I was recently given the chance to test out the Tesla Cybertruck Beast.

The all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the truck is rated at 325 miles of range on a full charge. In my testing, I found the battery took 50 minutes to charge from 10% to 50%. However, Tesla claims it can add 128 miles of range in just 15 minutes on a Supercharger.

The Beast is rated at 320 miles of range on a full charge, and the 15-minute Supercharge time is supposed to be able to add 136 miles of range.

The Cybertruck Beast has a battery capacity of about 122.4 kWh.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

While I am aware the Cybertruck isn’t required to report fuel economy data, I conducted a 75-mph highway fuel economy test and got 250 miles on a full charge. This is still impressive, and this distance is on par with electric trucks I’ve tested in the past.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The Tesla Cybertruck is the ultimate truck in every way. One such way it’s the ultimate is that it has an interior to match its rugged exterior: spartan. Despite the roof’s dramatic lean, headroom in the back seat is unexpectedly generous, although it might not be ideal for riders over 6 feet tall. In testing, we found the frunk could only fit a carry-on bag, but with the rear seats folded down, 22 cubic feet of space were available.

The truck bed offers 121 cubic feet of volume, and it also features a hidden lower storage compartment in the bed that’s large enough to fit an extra suitcase. At cybertruck xpert you can virtual tour to explore tesla cyber truck interior click on this Interior Gallery  .

Infotainment and Connectivity

Tesla has a lot of new features in the Cybertruck. The large center console touchscreen is the main feature for drivers, but the touchscreen on the back of the center console is for rear-seat passengers. The Cybertruck also comes with satellite radio and a Wi-Fi hotspot. I’m not a fan of Apple products and don’t care if Android Auto is not available.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The Cybertruck comes standard with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Cybertruck’s crash test results are available at the NHTSA and IIHS websites. Tesla’s controversial Autopilot driving feature is standard, and its optional Full Self-Driving system is available. Fully autonomous driving, which Tesla has long promised, is not currently available.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Tesla’s new electric cars come with comprehensive warranties for the car itself and the power train, and the battery components, but the company does not include complimentary scheduled maintenance in any of its current vehicle models. If you drive a Tesla, you will have to pay for scheduled maintenance out-of-pocket.

History

Background

Elon Musk’s studies on a volley truck for Tesla were first intimately expressed in 2012 and 2013 when he envisaged creating a “ Tesla Super Truck ” with features like an insane necklace, dynamic air suspense, and a look suggesting “ rails on the corners. ” In early 2014, Musk prognosticated it would take 4- 5 times before work could begin on the product. also, in a 2014 interview with CNN, Musk stated that the Tesla volley would be similar to a Ford F- 150. Bymid-2016, the figure of a consumer volley truck was included in Tesla’s Master Plan Part Deux, with Musk suggesting that a single lattice could be used for both a van and a volley truck.

In 2017, during the sanctioned unearthing of the Tesla Semi and Roadster, Musk teased a” volley truck that can haul a volley truck.” In March 2019, after the launch of the Tesla Model Y, Musk participated a teaser image of a vehicle described as having a” cyberpunk” or” Blade Runner” style, suggesting the look of a futuristic armored labor force carrier. It was bruited to be named the Model B. On November 6, 2019, Tesla filed a trademark for “ Cybrtrk, ” which was granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office but was latterly abandoned on August 10, 2020.

2019 concept

The prototype of the Cybertruck was unveiled in Los Angeles, California, on November 21, 2019, at the same time and place where the movie *Blade Runner* was set. The truck was introduced with a graffiti-style “Cybertruck” logo. During the unveiling, Tesla claimed the Cybertruck’s “Armor Glass” windows were nearly unbreakable.

However, when Franz von Holzhausen threw metal balls at the windows, they shattered. Elon Musk later explained that the windows broke because the glass was already weakened by a hammer hitting the truck’s door in an earlier demonstration. Tesla also showed a video of the Cybertruck pulling a Ford F-150 truck in a tug-of-war, which news outlets said was possible because the Cybertruck was lighter. Tesla’s goal was to offer a more sustainable alternative to the roughly 6,500 gas-powered trucks sold in the U.S. every day.

At the end of the presentation, Tesla demonstrated the Cyberquad, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), driving onto the back of the Cybertruck using a built-in ramp
. The ATV was plugged into the truck to charge its batteries. Tesla planned to sell the Cyberquad as an option for the Cybertruck in the future. In 2019, many social media users criticized the truck’s sharp design and unusual appearance. The prototype was displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in June 2020 and returned for another showing in November 2022.

Reservations

Starting in November 2019, Tesla began accepting reservations for the Cybertruck with a refundable deposit of $100. On November 23, 2019, Musk tweeted that Tesla had received 146,000 reservations within the first 1.5 days after the unveiling. On November 26, Musk updated the number of pre-orders to 250,000. In October 2021, Tesla removed the prices and specifications for the Cybertruck from its website without explanation but continued to accept deposits.

At the 2022 annual shareholder meeting, Elon Musk responded to a question by saying that the final specifications and prices would differ from those announced in 2019 for the concept vehicle. Pre-orders were temporarily suspended ahead of the delivery on November 30, 2023. Since the delivery began, the deposit price has been increased to $250. By August 2024, the Cybertruck was available for immediate delivery in the U.S., and Tesla discontinued the reservation process.

Production and sales

In 2019, Musk claimed that the Cybertruck would be available by the end of 2021 with a starting price of $39,901. Later, Musk pushed the release date to 2022, then again to the end of 2023, with a starting price of $60,991. In May 2022, Tesla stopped accepting orders for the vehicle from customers outside North America, and in December 2023, Tesla confirmed that the Cybertruck would only be available in North America.

In late June 2023, Franz von Holzhausen drove a prototype to an event at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Tesla built the first Cybertruck on the assembly line at Gigafactory Texas in July 2023 and clarified in October that this was a pilot product. Wes Morrill is the lead engineer and team leader for the Cybertruck’s development. In November 2023, full-scale production commenced, and Tesla showrooms started receiving production-spec Cybertrucks in late November 2023.

During the delivery event at Gigafactory Texas on November 30, 2023, Tesla delivered the first 10 or 12 production units to customers. During the 30-minute presentation, von Holzhausen demonstrated how the Cybertruck’s armored glass could withstand a baseball throw. The delivery event emphasized the Cybertruck’s ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0–100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds, showcasing a video of the Cybertruck winning an acceleration race against a Porsche 911 while towing another Porsche 911. According to Musk, this took place over a distance of a quarter mile (0.41 km), though based on track markings and the position of the markers at the Sacramento Raceway Park, it was probably closer to an eighth mile (0.22 km).

The event also revealed final prices, availability, and product details. The event revealed three models: a single-motor RWD, a dual-motor AWD, and a tri-motor AWD model known as the “Cyberbeast.” The base price for the RWD model was $60,990, with availability anticipated in 2025, offering a range of 252 miles (402 km) and a top speed of 112 mph (184 km/h). We set the dual-motor AWD version to start at $79,990 and make it available in 2024, boasting a range of 342 miles (553 km) and a top speed of 135 mph (210 km/h). We also anticipated the availability of the tri-motor “Cyberbeast” in 2024, priced at $99,999.

Compared to the 2019 concept unveiling, the base prices for each model had increased by $21,004 to $39,002, a price hike of 53% to 64%. In August 2024, Tesla stopped accepting reservations for the least expensive version of the Cybertruck (previously priced at $61,002). Tesla now charges $99,997 for the dual-motor variant and $119,994 for the tri-motor “Cyberbeast” variant. Industry estimates by October 2024 indicated the sale of at least 27,184 Cybertrucks.

Man who rented Tesla Cybertruck that exploded at Trump hotel in Las Vegas was an active-duty Army Green Beret, officials say

On January 1, 2025, a Tesla Cybertruck blasted outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Elon Musk named it a firework. He also claimed that the gas canisters were stored in the truck, not a vehicle defect. But this incident caused the death of one man and injured 7 people. This truck was at rent; I think you could not name it a coincidence.

This incident also ranked with the name terrorist attack. The driver, a US Army serviceman is being investigated for possible points to a terrorist attack in New Orleans that happened earlier the same day. I think it could not be a negative point for the Tesla Cybertruck at the beginning of 2025 because authorities also treated it as a terrorism potential act.
